Walkabout Your Business™ is an innovative business literacy program developed by Ambrose Business Solutions which provides practical, easy to understand advice and learning for aspiring and existing business owners.
Walkabout Your Business™ was developed to overcome poor levels of business and financial literacy in Indigenous Australia. The program uses educational tools and training methods to complement a 'pace and lead' approach that matches the clients' needs.
Story telling and imagery is used to explain business concepts and take the learner through a capacity building program with skills and knowledge mapped out across the business life cycle.
Walkabout Your Business™ is sponsored by CommBank, which enables a minimum of 12 people to participate in the program annually. To date 60+ budding entrepreneurs have participated in Walkabout Your Business™ and many are now running businesses of all sizes across a range of industries including the arts, consulting, horticulture and IT.
WHAT DOES THE PROGRAM COVER?
The program is delivered in six stages that are based on the main stages of the business life cycle:

Participants learn to understand themselves, their motivations, skills and values and how these factors will assist in the evolution of their business idea.
Participants learn to articulate their business idea and link it back to business concepts.
Participants learn to present a feasible and well-informed business concept that is developed into a business plan.
START IT UP
BUILD IT UP
WRAP IT UP
Participants learn to turn their concept into reality and explore start up options such as financing.
Participants learn to operate their business. This stage is about making sure proper monitoring and reporting is taking place.
Participants learn about operating a business successfully and looking at succession planning and exiting options in the future.
